IT Kartellet got an intern who performed far above expectation, and the cooperation was so good that they employed him on a permanent basis. And the very opportunity to find new employees means that IT Kartellet loves interns from KEA. They are one of five nominees for the KEA Internship of the Year award.

Hamzah Keramat Hussain was given a fairly narrow task - a project in which everything was already described - and he had to start in one place and finish in another, but that was not quite how it went:

"Hamzah has really surprised us positively. We simply gave him so many tasks because he just wanted to and was able to solve them. It's a sheer pleasure to have him and we're constantly giving him new assignments and trying to challenge him in every way we can. We are very much looking forward to him writing his thesis here and hope to be able to employ him on a permanent basis afterwards," says Christian Bech Nørhave, IT Kartellet and continues:

"We are very pleased with our KEA interns and would like to expand the cooperation we have with KEA. It's a unique way to get people into the company – they learn a lot on their programmes that we can shape and develop further. Interns are people who are open to learning, versus people who have been doing the same thing the last 10 years and constantly say "I've worked at X company where we did it like this."

And this was also noted in the jury:

"Hamzas' internship is a good example of the fact that the internship, in addition to being a learning course for the student, can also be part of the company's search for future employees, which benefits both the company and the student. IT Kartellet is strategic about using interns. They have an idea why they're doing it, and that's good. In this case, Hamzah has exceeded the company's expectations of him and has gained his footing in the company."

For Hamzah, the time at IT Kartellet has been an opportunity to develop both professionally and personally and has given him a taste of the real world:

"The internship has pushed me to learn new technologies quickly. I have had the opportunity to work independently but I have still had good colleagues who could help me if I was stuck. I've learned that it's important to learn from your mistakes," says Hamzah, who has worked on a win app designed to keep track of your stock and reviews and a payment gateway plugin for Drupal, a cms system.

Hamza and IT Kartellet are one of five nominees for the KEA Internship of the Year award.
