3½ years (210 ECTS) Application 15.3Important information about international programmes at KEA
Danish politicians have decided that Danish schools of applied sciences (such as KEA) cannot admit new full degree students to English language programmes. The decision will take effect as of the autumn semester 2022. This means that we cannot start new international semesters for full degree students at KEA.
However, the decision has no effect on current students, who will of course be able to complete their international education at KEA. Students who are starting at their international programmes at KEA in autumn 2021 or spring 2022 will not be affected either. KEA will also still be welcoming exchange students on a continuous basis, just as we will be sending out students on studies abroad.
The focus of this programme is jewellery, technology and business in an interdisciplinary understanding as production takes place with the help of modern technology.
The focus is also on how jewellery is conceptualised, produced, marketed and sold domestically and internationally.
We pay great attention to wearable technology, the Maker Movement and the Quantified Self, seen in relation to the jewellery industry of the future.
You will learn the theory, practice and methodology needed to independently organise, manage and carry out complex processes that will lead to innovative, creative solutions in the field of jewellery.
This programme is relevant for both Danish and international students.
My passion is to create ideas, sales and interaction with costumers. I’m really a practical guy. The transition from idea to product totally fascinates me.
Everybody should try to work with a 3D printer, it’s such great fun.

Programme Content and Structure
On Jewellery, Technology & Business you will obtain a cross-disciplinary understanding of how to create jewellery using modern technology. The programme focus on how jewellery is conceptualised, produced, marketed and sold nationally and internationally.
Jewellery, Technology and Business is a bachelor degree programme that takes 3 ½ years (equivalent to 210 ECTS).
You will be working with jewellery design, product development, business, aesthetics, materials, concepts, trends, cultural understanding, innovation, marketing, and value and supply chains. In short, you will gain knowledge about the entire process from idea to sold jewellery product.
Starting from the value and supply chain, you will learn how to analyse the financial market sustainability of the jewellery concepts and to optimise production and logistics processes.
You will learn to plan, manage and carry out complex processes resulting in innovative and creative possible solutions to challenges within jewellery production. We pay particular attention to functionality, Emotional Design, sustainability and choice of material in relation to the form and aesthetics of jewellery.
On the programme, we also focus strongly on Wearable Technology, makers Movement and The Quantified Self in relation to the technological jewellery industry of the future. You will learn to work with e.g. 3D print, prototypes and production regarding both unique jewellery specimens and mass production.
Internship
On the fifth semester, you must do an internship in a company in Denmark or abroad. The internship provides you with the possibility to test your skills in practice and to gain valuable work experience.
Your internship gives you the opportunity as a student to build a strong network in the industry and to establish a practice-oriented connection with the business community. The internship lasts the entire semester.
Your internship coordinator at KEA will help you with the practicalities in connection with your internship, which you must help organise yourself, including finding a host company. KEA has a wide company network.
