KEA and Cphbusiness have merged to become Business Academy Copenhagen (EK).
Welcome to EK – Business Academy Copenhagen
1 July marks the official launch of Denmark’s largest business academy.
With 20,000 students in full-time and part-time programmes, EK is not only the largest business academy in Denmark, but also one of the largest educational institutions in the country.
Business Academy Copenhagen is the result of the merger between Copenhagen’s two business academies, KEA and Cphbusiness.
All currently offered programmes will continue at EK, and all current students will complete their education as planned – with a diploma from EK if they graduate after summer 2025.
Steen Enemark Kildesgaard, Rector of EK – and previously Rector of KEA – is proud of how quickly the two organisations have come together, and looks forward to welcoming the first new students to EK in August.

"Today, we celebrate the culmination of a process that began last spring. Our starting point was that, together, we have the strength to tackle tasks on a whole new scale – both in breadth and depth. Throughout the process, we’ve only been reaffirmed that students, staff, and the business community are better served by a unified business academy – and I believe we’ve only just scratched the surface of what we can achieve together," says Steen Enemark Kildesgaard, and adds:
"EK was first and foremost created to offer students the best possible framework for education and to provide the best conditions for professionally oriented research. So, even though 1 July is our first official day as a new organisation, what we’re really looking forward to is August, when new and returning students walk through the doors of EK for the first time."
EK was first and foremost created to offer students the best possible framework for education and applied research.
Ole Gram-Olesen, previously Rector of Cphbusiness, will continue at EK as Vice Rector.
"Bringing together two institutions of our size is no small task. But it makes so much sense, because as a single business academy we can offer more opportunities for each individual student. At the same time, we gain better opportunities for programme and research development – and a stronger financial foundation to invest in quality and well-being. This also makes us an even better partner for the business sector," says Ole Gram-Olesen.
EK – Business Academy Copenhagen launches with an ambition to become a hub for practice-oriented education and applied research in the Capital Region.
Bringing together two institutions of our size is no small task. But it makes so much sense, because as a single business academy we can offer more opportunities for each individual student.
The foundation has been two equal institutions that, together, have the potential to become something greater than the sum of their parts, says Charlotte Lundblad, who continues as Chair of the Board at EK after previously holding the same role at Cphbusiness.
"KEA and Cphbusiness have been comparable in many ways. We’ve been roughly the same size and have offered many of the same programmes. Yet our profiles have been different – and we believe they complement each other very well. As one business academy, we unite commercial and technical-production-oriented disciplines, opening up a wealth of new opportunities. But most importantly, it ensures that we can deliver the innovation capacity and competence development that businesses need," says Charlotte Lundblad.
She is supported by Jannik Frank Petersen, National President of the Danish Union of Professional Technicians, who joins as new Deputy Chair of the Board at EK.
"We live in a time of transition, where you need both knowledge and skills. This is more important than ever, as rapid change demands stronger competences in areas such as AI, digitalisation, and the green transition. EK has all the right foundations to develop education and research to meet these challenges – and we look forward to unfolding that potential in the years ahead."
